The Grove Grizzly
Halloween
We are looking forward to our upcoming Halloween Festivities this Thursday! Please review the details regarding the plans for our celebrations below!

Parent Volunteers: Any parent volunteering to help with the classroom parties must submit their name, child’s name, and classroom teacher on the Halloween Volunteer Google Form in order to have a badge pre-printed for entrance into the building. Your badge will be available on the day of the party at our check-in table. If you have not had your valid driver’s license checked by the main office this school year, you will need to come into the office ahead of time to have your I.D. scanned so that a badge can be printed for you. We will not admit adults into the school without a visitor’s badge. This is for the safety of our students and staff and we greatly appreciate the cooperation of our parent community with this procedure!

Parent volunteers will be permitted to go down to classroom to set-up starting at 1:00 p.m.

Lunch: Please be sure to complete the Halloween Lunch Plans Google Form as soon as possible in order to indicate whether or not your child willing be going home or staying at school for lunch on Halloween!

Celebration Details: Exact details and a schedule for the festivities for the day were shared in last week’s Grizzly and can be accessed by clicking on the link to Halloween celebration details.

Board Approves Distance Learning Plan
At its Oct. 15 meeting, the Board approved a Distance Learning Plan for Barrington 220, which would allow students to complete the school day from home on an inclement weather day.

This could eliminate the need to make up days at the end of the school year. The Barrington 220 administration worked in collaboration with the Barrington Education Association (BEA) and Barrington School District Employee Organization (BSEO) on the Distance Learning Plan, which encompasses traditional lesson assignments at home that do not require an electronic device, as well as eLearning (lesson assignments at home that require an electronic device, such as an iPad). Please note, there may be circumstances when Barrington 220 does not implement the Distance Learning Plan during inclement weather and instead decides to make up the day at the end of the school year.
To learn more, visit our Frequently Asked Questions document.

Picture Retakes
We will be holding our Picture Retakes on Tuesday, October 22nd from 8-10 a.m. If you would like your child to have his/her picture retaken, please send the original picture package back with your child on October 22nd. No other action is necessary.

Also, any child who was absent for picture day will have their picture taken on Tuesday.
For easy online ordering, visit www.ordercp.com and be sure to enter our school code: 10065102. Please be sure to avoid having your child wear green, as a green screen is used in order to enable families to select different background options!

Tasty Tuesday Logo Contest
District 220’s sixth annual Tasty Tuesday Logo Contest is underway.
Elementary students in grades K-5 are invited to participate in the contest. Entries are due by Monday, October 28th! Please be sure to view the Logo Contest Rules and entry forms in English or Spanish. A contest flier went home with students this week, and Mr. Root will continue to discuss the contest during his art classes!

Thanks for your ongoing support of this initiative, which exists to increase opportunities for students to taste a variety of fruits and vegetables at school and home to promote healthy nutrition habits for life. Research shows that children learn to like new foods through multiple exposures. Check out the Tasty Tuesday Facebook Page for the latest news and updates about the program!!
