Grading Window Adjustments
In preparation for a smooth transition to our Hybrid 2.0 Learning Model, changes were made to the reporting window for our 2nd trimester. Per an email sent to parents prior to winter break via the district, the 2nd trimester grading window was closed on Tuesday, December 22nd. Our teachers are currently working on completing 2nd trimester report cards, which will be available to parents on January 28th. The purpose for this change was to provide for a clean transition for students and teachers, as there will be some changes to student class placements, with some students being assigned to a new teacher. As a result, the third trimester will be with students in their new class assignments.
Preparing for the Switch to Hybrid Learning
As we are making plans for the return of our students in the Hybrid 2.0 Learning model, there are several things that parents can do to help prepare for their child’s transition as well! Please check out the list below:
Make sure that your child has a MASK (no gaters) that he/she is comfortable wearing, as students will once again be required to wear a mask for the duration of the time they are in the building. In efforts to ensure that we are following the mitigation strategies which are allowing us to return to in-person learning, we must ensure that students are wearing masks, as they are the best proven protector
Make sure your child has their I.D. and red coil with the holder for their I.D., as these will be scanned to ensure that students have a completed COVID Screener and can enter the building quickly upon arrival
Bookmark the COVID-19 Symptom Screener health.barrington220.org, to easily access it each morning and certify your child prior to their arrival
Consider an organization system for your child’s supplies/materials to be transported back and forth from home and school, as students will need many of the supplies we sent home at the beginning of the year for learning at school in-person day. Classroom teachers will communicate materials that are needed.
COVID-19 Symptoms Screening for In-Person Learning
All students participating in our in-person hybrid learning, must have a completed electronic version of the COVID-19 Symptoms Screener filled out prior to entering our building. Parents can use a cell phone, iPad, or computer to visit health.barrington220.org, log in, and complete the survey. Be sure to click SUBMIT after answering each of the questions!! Upon students’ arrival to school they will hold up their I.D./bus tag to be scanned and school staff will be able to immediately determine whether or not a student can be permitted to enter the building. Directions for using the new system are included below!!

Resource for Adults to Help Support Kids Through Times of Change
As our children begin the transition to Hybrid 2.0, we know the support we provide as parents, caregivers, and educators is more important than ever. I strongly encourage you to read and reflect on this blog, written by a parent and teacher, entitled, "Supporting Kids Through Times of Change". The author provides specific ideas to help children cope with transitions. While our teachers will provide support to their students as we make the shifts ahead, our children are also looking to us as parents and caregivers for our support as well. Thank you, and please reach out to us if you have specific concerns or questions regarding your child.
Winter Spirit Days
We have a couple more spirit days coming up in January!!

Students Cheer or Chant for Grove Spirit
All Grove students are invited to show off their school spirit by creating a cheer or chant to be submitted for the morning announcements. Student submissions will be shared once a week on Mondays in the morning announcements. Students and parents can submit their entries to this Google Form.
Social Emotional Support for Students
As our students continue to navigate our consistently changing landscape due to COVID 19, we are continuously considering how our children are coping and their overall mental health. Please know that our school and district are here to support our students who are struggling and may benefit from additional resources. Please see the attached letter regarding this and view the short video explaining how families can access the online META app that is also available to connect students with counselors while at home. Please also keep in mind that parents can contact our school based support directly by emailing our Social Worker, Mr. Walcott, at cwalcott@barrington220.org or our School Psychologist, Tonya Tompkins-Wisz, at ttompkins@barrington220.org.
