Kindergarten – 3rd Grade BIG EVENT
The Kindergarten – 3rd Grade BIG EVENT field trip to LEGOLAND is scheduled for this coming Monday! Parents of K-3rd Graders were sent an e-mail with a link to the permission form for students to attend the trip. Included in the form, parents were asked to indicate whether a student is bringing a sack lunch from home or they can order a sack lunch from school. All lunches being brought from home must be in disposable containers that students do not need to bring back with them from the trip. Please also note that the buses will be leaving promptly at 8:30 a.m. on the morning of the trip in order for students to arrive at LEGOLAND with enough time to participate in all of the activities that will be available to them. As a result, it is critical that students are on time to school in order to attend the trip. Students will not need to bring anything with them for the trip besides their lunch. The students will return to school around 1:30 p.m.

Online Registration for Returning Students Opens May 1st at 7:00 p.m.
Online Registration for the 2018-19 school year will open on May 1st at 7:00 pm.  The district is planning for all current students to return to Barrington 220 in the fall of 2018!  However, families do need to register and update student and family demographic information before May 29th. Students are not considered to be "officially registered for 2018-19" until parents have completed Online Registration.

All families were sent an e-mail with registration information earlier this week from the district. Families planning to relocate to another school district before school opens in August are asked to respond to that email with a subject line of MOVING OUT OF DISTRICT, and include the name and grade of your son/daughter(s).  Please also notify the Grove School Office. We wish you the best!

It is important parents remember student logins cannot be used to access Online Registration.  Parents needing assistance with a PARENT LOGIN should contact the Parent Help Desk at 847-842-3580 or by email to campusportal@barrington220.org.

Parents will have the opportunity to update student medical information and handle all required annual parent permission forms when registering online.

The Learning NOW in Barrington 220 Coding episode highlights many of the coding experiences available in Barrington 220. Great Grove Reads

The War I Finally Won
by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley

In this sequel to the War that Saved My Life, Ada and her brother Jamie are still living in the war-torn England countryside with their foster mother Susan. After their house is destroyed, Susan and the children move into Lady Thornton’s guest house along with Lady Thornton because the manor house is now being used by the government for the war effort. Then Lord Thornton, who is a high ranking officer, insists that they also house a German girl; her family are escapees. Ruth, is Jewish, and does not want to live in Lady Thornton’s house any more than Lady Thornton wants her there. Everyone suspects Ruth as being a spy and tensions run high in the house. From Ruth’s perspective no one could hate Hitler more than her and her family; but at this time no one understand why she would feel that way. When tragedy strikes the family everyone must decide where their priorities lie and understand what they are fighting for. This is a triumphant sequel that I loved as much as the first book.

TOP THINGS ABOUT KINDERGARTEN: In our opinion….

Here are some top things real kindergarten kids think about being at Grove School.

We have been learning about writing OPINIONS in Writer’s Workshop and understand that we need to give a REASON why we think a certain way.  Here are our OPINIONS and our reasons for thinking so..

Do you agree with some of our opinions?

My top thing about kindergarten is:

FREE CHOICE…because you get to play.

ART CLASS ...because you get to make paper crafts.

MAKING SUPER AIRPLANES…because you get to throw them in the cubby room.

FREE ipad TIME on Tuesdays and Fridays...because you can play games on them.

BEING THE  DOOR HOLDER or CABOOSE or LINE LEADER...because you get to do special jobs and sit in the blue chairs.

OSMO APPS... because it's fun to play with your friends and help each other.

LEARNING STATIONS... because you can choose how you want to learn with anything you want to do.

ZERO THE HERO... because you can catch him on the day you are the leader.

THE DRESS UP BIN...because  you can be fancy!

THE MARBLE JAR...because if you fill it up you get something from the treasure box.

LEGOS...because you can play and build, you can pretty much build anything!

LOFT...because you get to relax up there.

CALENDAR...because we learn about math and weather

LIBRARY...because we get to check out books I like.

FRIENDS...because they love me and help me learn.
