Episode 8, the final episode of Learning NOW in Barrington 220 is online, Highlights.
The final episode of Season 1 of Learning NOW in Barrington 220 highlights some of the many ideas we learned from Barrington 220 students in elementary, middle, and high school across the district. Student experts from Episode 1 described some of their favorite recent class projects. Entrepreneurship students from Episode 2 explained how they learn and practice future-ready skills. Students in Episode 3 described some of the many STEM-related opportunities available in Barrington 220. Episode 4 allowed students to define the concept of coding at each of their grade levels. Students in Episode 5 talked about a few of the video production opportunities available in Barrington 220. Our high school student expert in Episode 6 shared many examples of her creative designs being used for several BHS programs and events. Finally, a student expert in Episode 7 offered her view on applying problem solving and critical thinking skills in her learning.

At the end of the episode, please take the Parent/Community survey!

Musical Survey
As we are closing in on the end of the school year, we are also starting to make preparations for next school year. In efforts to prepare for the future, we often reflect on the past and assess our programs in order to improve or make necessary changes. With that said, we also seek input from multiple sources in order to take into account different perspectives. In preparing for our music programming for next year, we wish to receive some input from our parents in regards to the music shows/programs throughout the year that feature our students. Please complete this very brief survey regarding our musicals in order to provide our staff with feedback to consider in moving forward with our music shows for next school year. Currently, we hold one all school holiday musical before winter break and our fifth graders have their own musical at the end of the school year.

Upcoming Dates
Monday, May 28th – No School, Memorial Day
Tuesday, May 29th – 5th Grade Farewell, 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday, May 30th – Last Day of School

Great Grove Reads

Summer is a Great Time to Read!

Please visit the library webpage for some great reading ideas. These include a list that I have created (and added to) for chapter books without a lot of middle school content as well as all the Illinois Award book lists for the different grade levels. I have spoken with all 2nd-5th graders about these lists. Also, please visit my Wondering What to Read Next? page for additional links to great book sites. These sites will provide additional help for all readers.

Remember to sign up for the Barrington Area Library summer reading/learning program. Click here for the Summer Learning Challenge. Also BAL has some reading suggestions. Click here for more information.

Have a great summer and I look forward to talking with all the students in August about great books that they read.

5th Grade Farewell

Please save-the-date for our 3rd Annual Back-to-School Bash!  Opportunities for families to sponsor games will be forthcoming.   Please "like" the Grove PTO Facebook page so you don't miss any important communication over the summer months!
