The Grove Grizzly
A Note from Mrs. Matthews

Blueprint 220 Community Survey
The Board of Education is currently in the middle of seeking community feedback about the district’s Blueprint 220 master plan, which aims to address a variety of our district’s needs over the next 20 years.

Since not everything in the master plan can be accomplished at once, this feedback will help the Board narrow down which parts of the master plan a potential referendum question should focus on in the April 2, 2019 general election.

One way in which the Board is seeking community feedback is through a survey. Every resident living within the Barrington 220 boundary area is encouraged to take the survey, whether or not you currently have children enrolled in the school district. The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete.

PLEASE CLICK HERE TO BEGIN TAKING THE SURVEY.

Special PTO Blueprint 220 Input Meeting
On Monday, November 12th at 9:15 a.m., we will be holding a special PTO meeting where our Referendum Advisory Committee Representative will share information from the committee meetings. We will also conduct a mock vote of our PTO in order to provide input to our representative prior to the final Referendum Advisory Committee Meeting that evening. During the evening meeting, the members of the advisory committee will be voting on an option to provide a recommendation to the Board of Education for the Spring of 2019 election ballet. Please attend this meeting in order to learn information about the potential referendum and to give input. This will be the only topic of conversation on the agenda for the meeting. Our PTO will hold their regular scheduled meeting on November 20th.

Halloween Reminders
Lunch: Please be sure to complete the Halloween Lunch Plans Google Form as soon as possible in order to indicate whether or not your child willing be going home or staying at school for lunch on Halloween!

Parent Attendance: All parents who are planning on attending the class party, must notify the room parent(s) for their child’s class in order to ensure they have a visitor’s badge printed ahead of time. All visitor’s must have a badge in order to be permitted to enter the school and attend the party. This new practice is intended to ensure the safety of all of our students during the Halloween Celebration.

Principal/Parent Book Study
During my presentation at Back to School Night, I invited all parents to join me and our Assistant Principal, Laura Boskelly, for a Parent/Principal Book Study using the book Screenwise by Devorah Heitner, PhD. The book study will be on Tuesday, November 13th at 6:30 p.m. at Grove. Please click on the RSVP Link to indicate that you will be attending the event. The RSVP is simply for planning purposes for us to determine the space at Grove where we will host the conversations and how to best set-up for the event! I hope you will join us for some great conversation with parents in our community around how we can work together to create responsible digital citizens!
