New Flag and Flag Raising Ceremony
On April 16th, our PTO presented Grove Avenue School with a new American flag to fly on our flag pole. In the next week, our Grove Boy Scouts and Grove Girl Scouts will participate in a special raising of this flag. It will be celebrated in our classrooms with all our students watching it on the morning announcements, as we all join in and say the Pledge of Allegiance together. Thank you to our PTO and Scouts for their support and collaboration!!
Illinois Assessment for Readiness (IAR)
The IAR Assessments will continue into next week with our students completing three Math tests (one per day) on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, April 23rd-25th. Make-up assessments will be conducted when possible throughout next week and into the last week of April.
Thank you to our parents for your support in ensuring students are prepared for these assessments. Please continue these efforts into next week and ensure that your child:
Gets a good night sleep on the evenings before the tests
Eats a healthy breakfast on the morning of the assessments
Arrives to school on time, as some testing will begin immediately in the morning
Brings their iPad updated and fully charged
Brings their school issued headphones or earphones
Please be sure to read the official letter regarding IAR with additional suggestions as to how parents can support students with the testing and more details regarding the assessments. You may also contact me directing with any questions.
Registration for Next Year
Online registration for the 2019-2020 school year is open! Please register your child for next year as soon as possible! This helps us in our planning for staff and classrooms for next school year! Details regarding registration can be found on the district registration webpage.
