The Grove Grizzly
Thank you to all of our families for your support during the IAR Assessments these past two weeks! While we still have make-ups that will be going on into next week, the majority of our students are finished testing and have completed all six of this year’s assessments. We are happy to have these assessments behind us and looking forward to the excitement that the month of May and end of the school is going to bring!

Grove 1st Graders are Making a Difference!!!
First grade students at Grove have been learning about what it means to be a good citizen. The students studied different historical leaders and have seen how they made a difference in the world. The students have decided that they want to make a difference in the world, too! They are partnering with a nonprofit organization called Rock-Paper-Scissors Children's Fund. The RPSCF provides pink bicycles, helmets, safety education, as well as bicycle repairs throughout the year for under-resourced girls in Vietnam.  Riding a bicycle to school instead of walking can save a girl 3 hours a day. Many families cannot afford for their daughters to be gone from the home for the additional 3 hours that it may take to get to and from school.  The bicycles also come with an extra seat in the back to carry another person and a large basket in front. The bicycles are not only used for school transportation, but also help the family go to the market and provide transportation to receive medical care. Grove's first grade students are asking people to sponsor them on a 2 mile walk on Friday, May 10th to raise money for RPSCF. They will walk from Grove Avenue School to Ron Beese Park and then return to the school. All money donated will go to provide pink bicycles for girls in Vietnam. Research shows that when girls become educated the whole community benefits! We walk so they can ride!

Summer School Registration
Summer school registration is still open! Be sure to visit the Summer School webpage for information regarding summer school including locations, dates, hours, course descriptions, and the link to register. We do highly recommend that students continue to participate in academic activities over the summer months. As a result, it is often beneficial for students to sign-up for one academic session and one fun session during summer school! Please feel free to contact your child’s classroom teacher or the office for more information or recommendations!

UPDATE: Registration for Next Year
Online registration for the 2019-2020 school year is open! Please register your child for next year as soon as possible! Please Note: you will not be able to complete the registration on your phone. You must Log-In and access the registration through your Infinite Campus (IC) account.

5th Grade Farewell

We need your help to give the 5th graders a memorable send off to middle school! We are looking for parent volunteers to help hang decorations and arrange food donations from 1pm-3pm on Thursday, May 30th. Historically, 4th grade parents help out the night of the event. If interested, we would need help from 5:30pm-9:00pm. Thank you to those parents who have already volunteered. If you would like to help, please contact Tasia Remi at tasiaremi@yahoo.com, Elena at kouruklis.elena@gmail.com or Page at page@wildcatinvst.com
