The Grove Grizzly
Parent Curriculum Night
Our staff is eager to share details about the school year and each of their unique classrooms with you on Thursday, September 5th at Grove’s Parent Curriculum Night, beginning at 6:30 p.m.  At this time, you will have an opportunity to get to know your child’s teacher, visit the classroom, and receive an overview of the grade- level curriculum and classroom expectations. We will start the evening in the gym, during which time I will introduce the entire Grove Staff and share additional information about the year. We view this evening as an important opportunity to communicate with parents, and we look forward to seeing you there. Please note that this event is for parents only.

Morning Drop-Off and Afternoon Pick-Up
If you are a parent dropping off in the morning or picking up a child in the afternoon, please be sure to do so along the Grove Avenue side of the building. This helps us keep the traffic from the busses and the cars separated and ensures safety for our students.

The Mindful Waste Program at Grove Continues!!!
Over 200 pounds of perfectly good, sealed food and milk are thrown away each day in our district. In order to help combat this problem, Grove will once again be participating in the Mindful Waste Food Recovery Program that has been approved for District #220 Schools.

Food recovery simply means saving food that would otherwise be thrown away and donating it to local food pantries. Mindful Waste has provided a refrigerator, bin, signage and scale - the only materials needed to run the program at our school!

Students will continue to be guided by adults in the lunchroom in order to participate in the program. Students are of course encouraged to first eat what is in their lunch, then take uneaten food home, and then potentially donate it. An information video about the program in our schools can also be accessed by clicking on this link!

Mindful Waste volunteers coordinate pick-up and delivery of food to local food pantries and we are looking for volunteers to help with the drop- off to Greencastle where the food from Grove will be donated. If you would like to help, please click on the link to the sign-up genius to volunteer!

The Grove Grizzly
It was a fantastic first week back to school at Grove Avenue! The hallways, lunchroom, and classrooms are once again buzzing with our excited learners, and our staff have enjoyed getting to know each individual child and building supportive learning communities!!

As we continue to get back into the swing of things and re-establish our routines, I would like to provide a few brief reminders for parents. Please be sure to remember the following:
  • Students may arrive starting at 7:40 a.m.
  • All car riders should be dropped off on the Grove Avenue side of the building and then walk to the playground, even 3rd – 5th graders.
  • Students enter the building at 7:55 a.m. and must be in the classroom ready to go by 8:00 a.m.
  • No one will be permitted to enter the building on the Grove Avenue side after 8:00 a.m. All visitors or late arrivals must check-in at the main office.
