Report Cards Available to be Views in Infinite Campus Today!!
As of 5 p.m. today, grades will be available for parents to view on Infinite Campus. Once again, we will not be printing and sending home report cards to parents, the reports will only be available via the parent portal. Please be sure to go in and view your child’s progress report this week.

Barrington 220 Distance Learning Reminder
Last month the Barrington 220 Board of Education approved a Distance Learning Plan, which would allow students to complete the school day from home on an inclement weather day. This could eliminate the need to make up days at the end of the school year.

First through fifth grade children will have access to their assignments through their teacher’s usual electronic communication method of See-Saw or Schoology, and/or will follow their IEP eLearning plan. They will have two core assignments.  Additionally, they will need to choose two assignments from the posted “Specials Options” (art, library, music, STEM, or physical education) to complete in Google Docs or Drive, to which your child has access. Kindergarten students will have their Blizzard Bags of activities, which were sent home earlier this year.

If your child is struggling to complete any, or all, of their work at home, they will have five school days to complete their work and can receive additional assistance from their teacher. Teachers will check their See-Saw or Schoology accounts and email during regular school hours, to support your child.

Please note, there may be circumstances when Barrington 220 does not implement the Distance Learning Plan during inclement weather and instead decides to make up the day at the end of the school year. If you have any questions, please review our PARENT FAQ

STEM Club Schedule Change for Session 1
Due to a district meeting at Grove, we will be moving the STEM Club scheduled for December 5th to December 12th. The remaining meetings of session 1 will be December 12th and December 19th.

Video Club for 3rd and 4th Graders
We have a group of 4th Grade students who have initiated an after-school Video Club with Miss Clarke, our Library Technology Assistant, as their sponsor for the club! As a result, students in 3rd and 4th Grades are invited to join the club! Students in this club will meet on Wednesdays after school from 2:10-3:00 p.m. in the library to learn and create fun videos. Students will learn how to use a variety of applications to create videos and they will also learn to edit and polish their videos! Some of the students’ work will be featured on the Grove morning announcements throughout the school year! Please note, there will be 35 spaces available and students will be accepted into the club in the order in which they sign-up. Parents will receive a confirmation e-mail of their child’s entrance into the club following Thanksgiving Break! Please click on the link to the Video Club Sign-Up to register!

Grove Awarded Illinois P.E. Blue Ribbon Award!!!
On Thursday, November 21st Grove Avenue School was presented with the Illinois P.E. Blue Ribbon Award at the Illinois Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance awards ceremony!! We are one of just three schools K-12 throughout the state to be recognized this year!! Last spring, the Blue Ribbon Committee conducted an on-site visit to Grove in order to observe P.E. classes and interview groups of teachers, administrators, students, and parents. The criteria for this award reflects the standards established by the physical education profession and the Illinois State Board of Education. Areas of focus included curriculum, instruction, enrichment, facilities, equipment, finance, administration, medical, and safety.

Congratulations to our Grove P.E. teachers Jay Rosenberg, Brittany Bott-Rife, and Tyler Ross for their hard work and dedication to providing high quality physical education experiences for our students on a daily basis!! Also, a big thank you and congratulations to our Grove families for your support of our programs and staff!! It is through the ongoing collaboration of our entire school community that we are able to continuously develop unique opportunities for students that foster both an enjoyment of physical activity and the understanding of a healthy lifestyle. Be sure to follow our P.E. team on Twitter @GrovePhysEd to see our P.E. classes in action!!

Emergency Notification Test
Barrington 220 will send out a TEST of the emergency notification system on Friday, Nov. 15 at around 6pm. If you do not receive this test, please email June Nilles, Director of Student Information, at jnilles@barrington220.org. This system is used to contact parents in the case of inclement weather or other emergencies.

Mindful Waste Program Volunteers Needed
Our Mindful Waste Program has been running smoothly thus far this year! Thank you to all who have volunteered to help this fall! We are in need of volunteers starting in December and into the new year!! Mindful Waste volunteers coordinate pick-up and delivery of food to local food pantries and we are looking for volunteers to help with the drop- off to Greencastle where the food from Grove will be donated. If you are able to help, please click on the link to the sign-up genius to volunteer!

Barrington Giving Days
Barrington Giving Day is a Non-Profit organization that invites families on the Free and Reduced lunch program in the 220 School District to a Giving Day event where they receive food, warm coats, hats/gloves, blankets, books, toys and other much needed items. Over 900 families in our community are in need of help. There are collection boxes in the main hallway of Grove where items such as new or gently used and clean winter clothing, new or like new toys, books, new blankets, and unopened diapers or pull-ups may be dropped off from until December 10th. Books are still being collected in the library at Grove!

Lost and Found
Our Lost and Found is already starting to look very full! Please remind your child to check it for any missing items. Often times, students take their layers off in P.E. class and do not claim them at the end of the period. As a result, they end up in the lost and found. Parents are also welcome to come in and check the lost and found for items as well. All items left in the lost and found when we break for Thanksgiving will be donated over the break!! Please be sure to check for your child’s belonging before November 26th!! We highly recommend that parents write student names or initials in winter gear including any sweatshirts or warm-up jackets that children might take on and off throughout the school day.

Grizzly Heart Winners - Week 13!

Enter to win "Lunch With A Teacher!" Proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit Grove students and staff. Winners will be announced at a TBD date. Thank you for supporting your school and PTO!
We are in great need of volunteers!
Every Wednesday after school, Grove donates uneaten food and milk to Greencastle, a nonprofit senior community in Barrington. Foods like apples, carrots, cheese, and milk often goes uneaten by students at lunchtime. Instead of just throwing it in the garbage, students set it aside. Volunteers are needed to come by anytime after lunch or after school to record the food recovered and deliver it to Greencastle. Students and siblings are encouraged to help as well. This is a great opportunity for them to see you are never too young to help others. The Director of the community is always so thankful and appreciative of our donations. Try it one time to see what an impact it makes.
The entire process takes no more than 30 minutes. More detailed instructions will be emailed to you once you sign up. Feel free to contact Rupal Upadhyay, rparikh33@yahoo.com with any questions.

Are you looking for a place to donate your kid’s used books?
Are they still in good condition?

Each year, Station Middle School hosts Barrington Giving days. This year the library is looking for gently used or like-new copies of popular titles for Kindergarten to 5th grade for students in need, to choose from!

If you have books that you no longer want, you may drop them off at the Grove library between November 4-20, 2019. Mrs. Banach will have boxes for donations. All books collected will
be sent to Station for Barrington Giving Days.
