It was a great first full week of school and we enjoyed welcoming all of our kindergarten students on Tuesday! The Grove Grizzly Mascot visited classrooms this week to deliver special Grove pencils to students and each class brainstormed names to give the Grizzly. The classes then submitted one name per class for a small committee to choose from for our final name. The name chosen came from Mr. Bergquist’s 5th grade class - GROVER! We will now be calling our school mascot Grover the Grizzly!! 

Grove Parent Curriculum Night

We will be holding our Grove Parent Curriculum night this year virtually via Zoom. This event is scheduled for this Wednesday, September 1st starting at 6:30 p.m. A principal message will be provided to parents at 6:30 p.m. followed by the live Zoom Sessions with individual classroom teachers. Each teacher will provide two identical sessions that evening and parents can choose which time slot session to attend.

6:30-6:40      Superintendent and Principal Message 

6:45-7:15      Teacher Session #1 - Live via Zoom 

7:30-8:00      Teacher Session #2 - Live via Zoom

 

A link to the principal message and individual staff Zoom Sessions will be sent out privately to parents via IC in the afternoon on Wednesday, September 1st in preparations for the evening sessions. Specials teachers and specialists will have a prerecorded message for parents and will be hosting office hours for parents to pop in and ask questions or see them throughout the two sessions. This information will also be included in the message sent to parents in the afternoon on Wednesday, September 1st.

Family Pictures 

We are offering the opportunity for Grove families to come in on two different evenings to take family pictures to be added to our collage of Grove Families that we will be putting back up in the main hallway of the school. The pictures will be taken on Tuesday, September 7th and Wednesday, September 8th from 4:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. Click on the link to choose a time slot to have your family picture taken on the Sign-Up Genius.

Fall Assessments 

We began our fall assessments with students this week. All students in grades K-2 participate in Fastbridge Assessments for reading and math and all students in grades 2-5 participate in the MAP Assessments for both reading and math. Please be sure to read the district letter with details regarding our assessments. The letter is posted in the Virtual Backpack! I have included a link directly to the letter for your convenience. 

Upcoming Dates

Our first PTO meeting of the year will be held next Tuesday, August 31st at 9:15 a.m. at the picnic tables under the tent by the main entrance of the school. I hope many of you will join us to reconnect and engage with our PTO Executive Council in planning activities and events for our students and the entire Grove Community! We look forward to holding safe and fun events that will bring us all back together again.
