Report Cards for the First Marking Period

Report cards will be accessible to parents electronically via the Infinite Campus (IC) Parent Portal at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22nd. Report cards are NOT printed in paper form, as we went GREEN several years ago, so parents must access the reports via IC.

Grove Student Newspaper Publication - 2nd Edition

Please check out the second publication of our Grove 4th & 5th Grade Newspaper!! This is a new club that started at Grove this year! The mission of the club is to strive to nurture a passion for writing, promote creativity and collaboration, and foster a sense of belonging. Most of all, it seeks to hear the voices of our students. The club will be publishing one edition each month throughout the school year. We will share publications with our students, staff, and parents each month! Enjoy!

Grove Family Picture Wall and Humans of Grove Avenue site!!

We have received copies of the Grove Family Pictures that were taken back in September and are in the process of hanging them up on the wall outside of the main office for our students, staff, and families to see and enjoy! We are also inviting families to submit a little blurb about their family to be included in our Humans of Grove Avenue web page that we have created just for Grove Families! I shared an example of my own blurb about my family for the site during our Parent Back to School Night! A QR code will be added next to the picture of each family picture up on the wall, which will take individuals to the story of each family. Please click on the link to the Humans of Grove Avenue Google Form to submit your family story to be included on our site and linked to the QR code for your picture. If you did not take a family photo during the Grove Family Pictures, you CAN still participate by submitting a picture and your story to the Google Form!! We would love to have all of our Grove families represented on the wall and web page!

Fastbridge Parent Reports and IAR Parent Reports

Parent reports were sent home with students last Friday for our kindergarten and 1st-grade students who took the Fastbridge Early Reading and Fastbridge Early Math assessments. Please keep in mind that these reports reflect the student’s performance on these assessments during our Fall Benchmark Assessment window that was done back in early September. As a result, it is likely that students have made progress since those assessments and will demonstrate that growth when we conduct the assessments again during our Winter Benchmarking Window. Parents will receive reports again following the winter assessments, and we are hopeful that they will be distributed in a more timely manner. This is the first time these reports have been sent home with parents since we started using Fastbridge.

Parent reports were also sent home with students in 4th and 5th grades on Friday who participated in the IAR (Illinois Assessment of Readiness) during April of last school year. Given that these reports come from the state, we typically receive the reports for parents around this time each school year.

Please feel free to contact your child’s teacher or Mrs. Matthews with any questions regarding these reports.

Home Internet Security Over THANKSGIVING BREAK - Reminder

Thanksgiving Break is here and Winter Break is right around the corner so it’s a good time to review your home Internet security plan and discuss responsible tech use with your student. With a break from school, students are likely to spend more unsupervised time using their iPad. Please click on the link to a 1 page document with suggestions, resources, and reminders for parents in order to help keep students safe on their devices at home! Also check out the district webpage for parents about Technology at Home

If you are using the Screen Time resource on your child’s iPad and as you are monitoring your child on their device, please keep in mind the following:

  • Always make sure Downtime and restrictions are for outside school hours (we need students to access their devices when at school!)

  • Always allow Seesaw and Self Service

  • We do not allow Apple IDs on our devices

Barrington Giving Days

Barrington Giving Day is a Non-Profit organization that invites families in the 220 School District to a Giving Day event where they receive food, warm coats, hats/gloves, blankets, books, toys, and other much-needed items. Over 900 families in our community are in need of help. There are collection boxes in the main entrance of Grove where new or gently used/like new games or puzzles may be dropped off from now until December 7th.

BHS Winter Wonderfest 2022

Barrington High School is excited to continue the tradition of Winterfest this year, and they are including more performances and hands-on activities led by students and staff from across the district.  WinterFest 2022 will include courtyard light shows, school & club trees, games, cookie decorating, and so much more! This year the event is running Friday, December 9th & Saturday, December 10th. Grove will have a decorated tree at the event and our orchestra and choir students will be performing on Friday with Orchestra performing at 6:15 p.m. and choir performing at 7:15 p.m. Tickets for the event can be purchased online through the District Fine Arts Box Office

Barrington Early Learning Center (ELC) Screening Appointments

The Barrington Early Learning Center is a free early childhood education program that serves at-risk preschool students ages 3 to 5 years old in the Barrington 220 School District. The ELC qualifies prospective students through screenings offered throughout the school year in the areas of pre-academic skills, gross and fine motor skills, vision and hearing, social skills, and speech/language. Students are placed according to their individual needs. If you are interested in signing up your child for the January 13th or March 10th screening, please review the following website.  https://elc.barrington220.org/families/screening-forms
