Upcoming 1st Grade, 4th Grade, and Choir Winter Concert Information

Our 1st graders, 4th graders, and Grove Choir will be performing in a winter concert on Tuesday, December 13th! Below are some details for parents regarding this performance! If you have additional questions, please please feel free to contact our music teacher Mrs. Boyer at cboyer@barrington220.org

Performance Information:

  • Date: Tuesday, Dec. 13th

  • Location: Grove Avenue School Gym

  • Student Arrival: All students performing should arrive at Grove at 6:10 PM. Please have your student go directly to their classroom when they arrive at Grove. Their homeroom teacher will be in the room with them. Please note: if you have a 4th grader in choir, they will go directly to the music room instead of their homeroom class.

  • Performance Time: 6:30 PM

  • Dress Code: There is no specific dress code for this concert, but students are encouraged to dress nicely! Please note that 4th graders with speaking or dancing parts will have a specific costume they will be wearing.

  • Additional Information: No tickets are needed for this concert. The concert will last about 45 minutes total. We would love to see the students’ families at this concert!

Thank you again for all of your support! The students are excited to perform for you!

Winter Benchmarking Begins This Week

We will begin our fall assessments with students this coming week and will continue into January. All students in grades K-2 participate in Fastbridge Assessments for reading and math. The Fastbridge reading and math assessments will be conducted before winter break.  All students in grades 2-5 participate in the MAP Assessments for both reading and math. MAP assessments will begin the week of January 16th. Grove is also piloting the Fastbridge MySaebrs assessment (a social, academic, emotional screener), so students in 2nd-5th grade will participate in this assessment in January. I have included a link directly to the district letter with details regarding our assessments for your convenience. Please reach out to your child’s teacher or Mrs. Matthews with any questions.

Grove Family Picture Wall and Humans of Grove Avenue site!!

All of our Grove Family Pictures are now hanging up on the wall outside of the main office for our students, staff, and families to see and enjoy! We are also inviting families to submit a little blurb about their family to be included in our Humans of Grove Avenue web page that we have created just for Grove Families! I shared an example of my own blurb about my family for the site during our Parent Back to School Night! A QR code will be added next to the picture of each family picture up on the wall, which will take individuals to the story of each family. Please click on the link to the Humans of Grove Avenue Google Form to submit your family story to be included on our site and linked to the QR code for your picture. If you did not take a family photo during the Grove Family Pictures, you CAN still participate by submitting a picture and your story to the Google Form!! We would love to have all of our Grove families represented on the wall and web page!
