Grove Student Newspaper Club - May 2024 Edition
Please check out the May publication of our Grove 4th & 5th Grade Newspaper!! The mission of the Grove Newspaper Club is to strive to nurture a passion for writing, promote creativity and collaboration, and foster a sense of belonging. Most of all, it seeks to hear the voices of our students. We continue to share publications with our students, staff, and parents each month! Enjoy!
Grove End of the Year Spirit Week
We have planned a Spirit Week for our last six days together with students! We are looking forward to celebrating the end of the year with a little fun each day during those six days! The spirit days will begin Monday, May 20th and go through our last day of school on Tuesday, May 28th!
Please click on the link to a spirit week flier, which outlines the themes we have designated for each of the days! Students are invited to dress up to match the theme each day! Please make sure that your child’s clothing on these days is appropriate for school and that he/she can comfortably participate in all activities that students would normally be expected to complete in a school day!
We are looking forward to a fun and enjoyable end of the year with our students!
FIELD DAY INFORMATION - FRIDAY, MAY 24TH
Attire:
All students must wear gym shoes (no sandals or flip flops)
Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothes are encouraged
Clothes that can get wet and change of clothes if you’d like!
Your grade level color (K → red, 1st → orange, 2nd → purple, 3rd → yellow, 4th → blue, 5th → green)
Sun & Bugs:
Sunscreen and bug spray, if wanted, must be applied BEFORE school
Students may wear hats
Lunch & Water:
Students should bring a water bottle (with name on it) to have during Field Day
Students must bring a sack lunch or order a sack lunch through the school (NO HOT LUNCH WILL BE SERVED) - Please indicate your child’s lunch choice here!!!
The entire school will eat their lunch in their classroom from 11:00-11:50 a.m.
Inclement Weather Plan:
In the event of rain, I will send an all-school email by 6:30 a.m. to inform everyone if Field Day is postponed to Tuesday, May 28th
2024-2025 ONLINE REGISTRATION
Online Registration for the 2023-24 school year is open!
Families planning to attend Barrington 220 Schools in August will need to register and update student and family demographic information. Students can not be officially enrolled in the 2024-25 school year until Online Registration is completed.
Please note: students can only be registered by their legal guardian (of student(s) primary household).
The link to registration will be in your Infinite Campus Parent Portal account on Wednesday, May 1st.
Parents are asked to update family and student contact information, medical information, and to submit all required annual parent permission forms when completing Online Registration. Following a review of your registration documents, a confirmation email will be sent. Please allow 5-7 working days for that email to arrive.
Please note: If you have a new address or if you need to add a new student since your last registration, you will need to submit proof of address along with your registration application.

¡La inscripción en línea para el año escolar 2023-24 estará disponible el miércoles 1 de mayo!
Las familias que planean asistir a las Escuelas de Barrington 220 en agosto deben inscribirse y actualizar la información demográfica del estudiante y la familia. Los estudiantes no pueden matricularse oficialmente en el año escolar 2024-25 hasta que se complete la inscripción en línea.
Tenga en cuenta: los estudiantes solo pueden ser inscritos por su tutor legal (del hogar principal del estudiante).
El enlace para inscribirse estará en su cuenta del Portal de Padres de Infinite Campus el miércoles 1 de mayo.

Grove Spring Open House and Book Fair
We will be hosting a Spring Open House and Book Fair on Thursday, May 16th! This is an opportunity for parents to come to school with their children to view some of the work that is currently in progress in their child’s classroom, walk through the building to view artwork, take home student artwork from the year, and purchase books from the book fair for summer reading! This is a casual evening for families to come and go based on what works for their schedule anytime within the 6:00-7:30 p.m. window. Ice pops will be served in the MPR and outside (weather permitting) for families to mingle and enjoy a treat together before they leave.
This year, our 3rd graders will be participating in an informal performance during the event. The performance will be at 6:45 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room! All 3rd graders will be performing at the same time.
Summer School Course Registration is Open
Summer school in Barrington begins on Monday, June 3, 2023 for all grade levels. Course catalogs are available on our summer school webpage and registration for all levels is open and can be completed by visiting the summer school webpage! Please note that summer school will not be held at Grove. I have included the information below regarding programs for Grove Students:
The elementary summer school program that is traditionally held at Barbara B. Rose Elementary will be returning to Rose this summer, as construction will be completed. This program serves students from Countryside, Grove, Sunny Hill and Rose.
The Jump Start and Dual Language programs traditionally held at Sunny Hill Elementary will be held at Hough Street School.

Summer Send-Off Tributes
A 220Tribute is a donation to the Barrington 220 Educational Foundation on behalf of a teacher or staff member you name. Each Honoree will receive a certificate commemorating your donation, and you can write a personalized message as well. Honorees will be invited to a reception in their honor at the district office before school adjourns for the summer. All donations benefit Barrington 220 by providing resources for projects and grants that would not otherwise have been possible by school district funds alone.
Donations must be received by Monday, May 13th. Cards will be delivered to all schools and teachers by May 17th. Honorees will also be acknowledged on the Foundation's website. Click on the link to make a donation!
