The Grove Grizzly

A Note from the Office

Thank you to our parents who attended the Parent/Principal Coffee today regarding safety and security at Grove! We had a great dialogue that will continue in the upcoming months, as we will be working to assess and revise our practices on an ongoing basis. As we continue to this process, information will be shared with our community regarding revisions and shifts that are made in order to improve our practices. Please feel free to contact me with questions if you were unable to attend today’s meeting, as I am happy to discuss this important topic with our parents.

6th Grade Parent Orientation Night
Each year the two middle schools provide an evening program for parents with a child moving to sixth grade. The orientation night is designed to provide an introduction and overview of the opportunities and programs available at middle school. In addition to learning about middle school programs, parents will have a chance to meet staff members and tour the schools. The programs will run from 6:00-8:00pm. Station’s night is Tuesday, April 10th, and Prairie’s program is Wednesday, April 11th. More information will be coming home from the middle schools in the coming weeks.

Parent/Teacher Conferences
The sign-up for our upcoming parent/teacher conferences opened last week. All parents received an e-mail notification with a link to our new system “Meet the Teacher”, which is being used to allow parents to easily sign-up. The sign-up will be open until Tuesday, March 20th. The number of spaces available for this conference period is more limited than the fall window, as a conference may not be needed for every child at this time. With that said, we continue to value your support and communication and will try our best to connect with parents who would like to communicate regarding their child's progress.

On February 19th the unthinkable happened to one of our Grove families. Jose, Juliana and their daughters, Jennifer (9th grade) and Victoria (2nd grade), came home from church to find their house burned down. They have lost everything; clothes, furniture, treasured mementos, day to day supplies, and all their belongings vanished in the fire. Thankfully, no one was harmed in this terrible accident, but they are certainly shaken by it, and in much need of our community’s support.

Consequently, a “Go Fund Me” page (link included below) has been created by the Spanish Dual Language Council and they are asking that our families thoughtfully consider helping this family rebuild their lives. Any amount will be greatly appreciated.
