The Grove Grizzly
Thank you to our room parents for the Valentine’s Day Parties on Thursday! The students had a great time! This was our last class party of the year and the students loved each of the events! We so appreciate all of the time and hard work that went into planning these celebrations for our students!

Also, thank you to those of you who took the 5 Essentials Survey. We did just pass the 20% threshold that we needed in order to receive a report.

April Referendum
For the April 2, 2019 election, registered voters in the Barrington 220 boundary area will have a chance to vote on a $185 million school district referendum question. A successful referendum would help to:
  • Improve safety and security at all Barrington 220 schools
  • Update classrooms at all schools to prepare students for success
  • Protect the community's investment in Barrington 220 school buildings by repairing things like roofs, windows, plumbing, electrical systems, heating and air conditioning
  • Update arts and athletics spaces, which are used year round by the school district and various community organizations
You can learn more about the Barrington 220 referendum by visiting www.barrington220.org/referendum and by attending any of the following upcoming community meetings:

  • Saturday, Feb. 23: 9:00 a.m. at Barrington High School (616 West Main Street, Barrington)
  • Monday, March 4: 9:30 a.m. at Prairie Middle School (40 East Dundee Road, Barrington)
  • Wednesday, March 6: 7:00 p.m. at Station Middle School (215 South Eastern Avenue, Barrington)

Family Reading Program: Pancakes and Pajamas Reward on Friday, February 22nd
Our long weekend this weekend is a great opportunity for students to get some extra reading in, which will be celebrated this week with our Pajama and Pancake Day on Friday!! Students will come to school in their p.j.s and they will be served a pancake breakfast by our staff!! Please be sure to still have your child eat breakfast prior to school on Friday, as some students will not be eating pancakes until later in the morning. We will have a Gluten Free option for students who need an alternative, as well as, other alternatives for students with allergies. Please contact your child’s teacher for more information regarding any food restrictions. This week, students should be finishing reading our One Grove, One School Novel Where the Mountain Meets the Moon! I hope all of our families have enjoyed the book and dialogue about the story as much as we have enjoyed talking to our students about it at school! Information regarding the BIG EVENT will be sent out to parents this week and shared with students as well!

Petition Requests
Over the last several years we have had a small number of requests for students to attend a school other than the building to which they have been assigned by the school district based on location of their home/residence within defined attendance area boundaries. Parents/guardians who feel they have a compelling reason to submit a transfer request, should complete the district's Transfer Request From and submit it to the attention of Dr. Craig Winkelman, Assistant Superintendent of Operations and K-12 Schools, prior to February 28, 2019. The form and information about the transfer request process can be accessed at the following web address:  https://www.barrington220.org/Page/19569
