Registration for the 2021-2022 School Year

Online Registration for the 2021-22 school year is opening next week. All families planning to attend Barrington 220 schools in August will need to register and update student and family demographic information by May 28th. Students can not be officially registered for the 2021-22 school year until registration is completed. More information will be headed your way next week about how to complete registration in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.

Spring MAP and Fastbridge Assessments

This spring, we will not be assessing all students for MAP or Fastbridge as we would like to maximize the instructional time that we have available between now and the end of May. As a result, we will utilize these assessments for a small group of students in order to determine specific programming for the fall, and we will resume testing all students at the start of the 2021-2022 school year.

Attention Families!! Important - Material Return Requested!!

During this school year, we have sent many materials home with our students to support distance learning, including books, science materials, and math manipulatives/materials (i.e. blocks, place value chips, etc). In May, we will be taking inventory of our classroom materials to determine what we need for the 2021-2022 school year. To help us be fiscally responsible in this process, please help your child gather and return all classroom materials to your classroom teacher when they are no longer used. Thank you for your partnership!

Upcoming Emergency Drill Completion

Now that we are back full time for in-person learning with the majority of our students, we need to complete our yearly safety drills with students. As a result, we started with the completion of drills this past week and we will be conducting the remaining drills during the Week of May 3rd. While we want to make sure that our students and staff are prepared for any emergency that may occur, we will still be following social distancing and conducting modified versions of the drills in order to do so. Our main goal is to make sure that students are prepared and educated as to what to do, while still keeping students safe in regards to COVID-19. During the week of May 3rd, the Barrington Police Department will be coming out to conduct the lockdown drill with our school. Please click on the link to the letter regarding this particular drill. Many parents, especially those of our youngest learners who may not have participated in a drill like this before, may want to talk with their child and help prepare them prior to the drill in school. The letter shares a general overview of the information that will be shared with students should wish to talk with your child prior to the drill. As always, you may also contact your child’s classroom teacher for additional information regarding the procedures and discussion in the classroom.

Family Reading Program Week #5 Reward

Next week will be our fifth and final week of the Family Reading Program!! Our Week #5 Reward is our ever popular tradition of Pancakes and Pajamas!! In-person students will be participating in this reward during the designated time for their class throughout the school day. We will utilize the same set-up for this activity that we are using for our current lunch procedures with students eating 6 feet apart either in the MPR or the Gym. We are assuming that all students who currently attend in-person will participate in this reward. Safe alternatives will be provided for our students with any allergies. If there is a parent of an in-person learner who does want their child to participate, they should contact their child’s teacher directly.

Remote learners in 1st-5th grades are invited to come in-person to participate in this reward with their class on Friday morning from 8:00- 8:30 a.m. Remote learners in kindergarten are invited to come in to participate with their class from 8:40-9:00 a.m. Once again, we will be following our procedures for eating with students distanced 6ft. apart in the MPR or the Gym depending on their area that their class is assigned. All students coming into the building for the reward must have a completed COVID Screener. Students should bring their I.D. to be scanned in order to enter the building. We will be offering an alternate Virtual Reward during the same 8:00-8:30 or 8:40-9:00 time slot via Zoom for any remote learners who do not opt to come in-person. Please be sure to fill out the Google Form that was linked in the email blast to RSVP as to whether your child will be participating in the reward in-person or opting for the virtual alternative.
