The Grove Grizzly
Our Family Reading Program concluded this week with the BIG Event on Tuesday and the conclusion of the Grand Prize Game on Friday! Thank you to all of our families for your support and involvement throughout the last five weeks! We are so proud of all of the reading our students completed over the course of the program and hope that families enjoyed reading together and engaging in the story Where the Mountain Meets the Moon! Our students benefit so much from time with family reading and focusing on practicing their reading, so it would be great for families to continue to engage in these types of activities together!

Referendum Information Sessions
In order to inform the entire Barrington 220 community about the school district referendum question on the April 2, 2019 ballot, the Board of Education is holding two information sessions next week. All community members are encouraged to attend and ask questions. There will be a short presentation, followed by Q&A.
  • Monday, March 4: 9:30am at BMS-Prairie
  • Wednesday, March 6: 7pm at BMS-Station
Referendum Facebook Live!
Join Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Brian Harris, and Board of Education member Angela Wilcox for a Facebook Live discussion about the April 2, 2019 referendum. Ask your questions and learn the facts from the comfort of your own home or office. To join the discussion, head to the Barrington 220 School District Facebook page: www.facebook.com/barrington220
The live discussion will take place on Thursday, March 7 from 2pm-3pm.

Spring Conferences
The electronic conference sign-up for our spring parent/teacher conferences was made available to parents this past Thursday. Conferences will be held after school in the afternoon and evenings of Wednesday, March 20th from 4-8 p.m. and Thursday, March 22nd  from 3-7 p.m. Please be sure to plan accordingly in order to be able to attend conferences during the conference days that have been designated by the district for teachers to meet with parents. This is valuable time to discuss the individual growth and skills of your child, as well as, work together with the teacher to plan and set goals towards your child’s individual progress.

The number of spaces available for this conference period is more limited than the fall window, as a conference may not be needed for every child at this time. With that said, we continue to value your support and communication and will try our best to connect with parents who would like to communicate regarding their child's progress.

Once again, we are using the system “Meet the Teacher” for parents to sign-up for conferences. Please click on the link below for directions to use “Meet the Teacher” in order to sign-up. When parents log on, they will be able to sign-up for conferences for multiple children and for any staff member that works with their child including our art, gym, and library teachers. Conferences with specials teachers are not required, but are an option we are offering to parents. In addition, all related services staff members will meet with parents separately from the conferences with classroom teachers. As a result, parents can also schedule conference times with our Social Worker, Speech and Language Pathologist, Reading Resource Teachers, English Learner Teacher, Special Education Resource Teachers, and the Extended Teacher. It is highly recommended that parents meet with any related service staff member that works with their child.
