Thank You to all of our room parents and parent volunteers who organized our holiday parties on Thursday!! The students loved all of the planned activities and it was great to see so much fun and excitement leading up to our break!

We wish everyone a very Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year! Hopefully all of our students will have an opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends and come back after our two week break refreshed and renewed! We will eagerly anticipate the return of all of our students on Monday, January 9th!

As our students are off for two weeks, we highly encourage them to continue to read every night for at least 20-30 minutes! The break is the perfect time for students to find cozy places to curl up with a great book whether it be in front of a fireplace, on a couch, next to the Christmas Tree, or in their own rooms next to a pet or sibling!! The holidays are also a perfect opportunity for children to read to grandparents, aunts and uncles, or other special individuals that they may be around during this time! No matter how each individual student is spending  winter break, it is extremely important to continue to read throughout!!!

Winter Break - Home Internet Safety Reminder and Resources

We realize that the break is often less structured than when school is in session, so it is a good time to remember the importance of our students practicing good digital citizenship and making healthy digital choices online. As a result, I am sharing a document below in English and Spanish with some tips for parents to keep in mind over the break for keeping students safe with their digital tools. Please click on this link to view the document and access some great resources that we have included for parents and students.

Winter Benchmarking Continues in January

All students in grades 2-5 participate in the MAP Assessments for both reading and math. MAP assessments will begin the week of January 16th. Grove is also piloting the Fastbridge MySaebrs assessment (a social, academic, emotional screener), so students in 2nd-5th grade will participate in this assessment in January. I have included a link directly to the district letter with details regarding our assessments for your convenience. Please reach out to your child’s teacher or Mrs. Matthews with any questions.

Grove Family Picture Wall and Humans of Grove Avenue site!!

All of our Grove Family Pictures are now hanging up on the wall outside of the main office for our students, staff, and families to see and enjoy! We are also inviting families to submit a little blurb about their family to be included in our Humans of Grove Avenue web page that we have created just for Grove Families! I shared an example of my own blurb about my family for the site during our Parent Back to School Night! A QR code will be added next to the picture of each family picture up on the wall, which will take individuals to the story of each family. Please click on the link to the Humans of Grove Avenue Google Form to submit your family story to be included on our site and linked to the QR code for your picture. If you did not take a family photo during the Grove Family Pictures, you CAN still participate by submitting a picture and your story to the Google Form!! We would love to have all of our Grove families represented on the wall and web page!
