The Grove Grizzly A Note from Mrs. Matthews   1st Grade, 4th Grade, and Choir Concert On Thursday, December 13th our 1st Grades, 4th Grades, and Choir will be having their music concert. The students will be performing for the whole school at 1 p.m. in the afternoon. There will be limited seating available during this performance for parents or family members to attend. The evening performance for parents and families will be at 6:30 p.m. and should have plenty of seating. Students should arrive for the performance at 6:00 p.m. and should be dressed in nice clothing.   Erin’s Law Presentations Many states, including Illinois, have passed a law with the intent of increasing the awareness of child sexual abuse. You may have heard of this legislation under it’s more common name, Erin’s Law, in honor of Erin Merryn, a young woman who has crossed the country advocating for laws that will increase awareness of this crime against children. One of the requirements of this law is that schools provide an age-appropriate curriculum to all students relating to sexual abuse prevention. The purpose of the lessons is to provide students with the tools they need for personal safety, and to help them build confidence in advocating for themselves.   Starting next week, Ms. Boskelly (Assistant Principal) and Mr. Walcott (Social Worker) will be conducting these lessons with our students. Classroom teachers will also be at the presentations. Please be sure to read the official letter regarding the presentations that was send out by Ms. Boskelly earlier today. Students and staff will have a cheese pizza lunch in the gym. Students can still enjoy recess after eating. Thank you to all participants! Parents will need to check in again for the winter holiday parties on 12/21/18. All Grove families are invited to the Kazmier Christmas Light Show offered by one of our school board members.
