The Grove Grizzly
We had a terrific first week of the Family Reading Program!! Thank you to all of our families who joined us for the Family Author Night this week! It was great to share an evening of fun along with a wonderful story containing a meaningful message with our students and families during this special time!! I hope everyone is enjoying reading Where the Mountain Meets the Moon together! I know I have really enjoyed listening to the students share their excitement for the book! Starting next week, we will be featuring trivia about the story on our morning announcements! We also had our first student make it into bucket number six in the Grand Prize Game (GPG) this week!! Be sure to check out the @GroveAve220 Twitter Feed for pictures of the GPG and other activities going on throughout the school! Hopefully your child brought home their Grove Reads t-shirt today. It was our Week #1 reward and we will be wearing the shirts throughout the program!

Food Recovery Update
We have begun to recover uneaten food in the lunchroom as a result of the Mindful Waste Program being implemented throughout Barrignton 220. An information video about the program in our schools can be accessed by clicking on this link!
We are still looking for volunteers to help with coordination of the pick-up and delivery of food to Greencastle where the food from Grove will be donated. If you would like to help, please click on the link to the sign-up genius to volunteer!

5 Essentials Parent Survey
The 5 Essentials Survey is parents’ opportunity to evaluate Grove Avenue School according to five “essential” areas critical for school success, including but not limited to ambitious instruction, supportive environment, and leadership. The online survey is open now through February 15th and is accessed by clicking here. PLEASE NOTE: Because Barrington 220 is based in Lake County, choose "Lake" from the county drop down menu, then select our school.

Illinois public schools are required by the State of Illinois to take the 5Essentials survey once every two years. The survey data becomes part of each school’s Illinois School Report Card listing, which is a public website provided by the Illinois State Board of Education. Barrington 220 will receive results from the survey in the spring of 2019, and they will be publicly posted on our Illinois School Report Card the following fall.

Thank you for your participation in this important survey. We appreciate and value your feedback.
