The Grove Grizzly
Updated School Calendar for Students
As shared by Dr. Harris earlier today, the last day of virtual instruction for students will now be Friday, May 22nd. May 26th- May 28th will serve as our remaining three virtual professional development days for staff. Under the Illinois State Board of Education guidelines for Remote Learning Days, school districts were given up to five school days to work on remote learning plans. These days will allow for end of the year logistics to be finalized for teachers and throughout school buildings, and for professional learning to take place to ensure that student learning, social-emotional, and health needs are met as we enter the 2020-21 school year.  It will also be used as a time for teachers to follow up with students who need to finalize incomplete assignments.

End of the Year Activities
Each year, we close out the school year with some fun activities with our students in order to end the year on a high note and provide a sense of closure for our students. The Grove Staff would like to continue a few of these traditions with our students, even though we will need to do them virtually. As a result, we have the following activities planned for our students and hope that they will participate in as many of them as possible! Each of these activities are optional, but hopefully will be enjoyable for our students!
  • End of the Year Spirit Days – Monday, May 11th – Friday, May 22nd - We planned spirit days that will allow all students to participate without needing to purchase anything or leave their homes!!
  • Virtual Field Day Wednesday, May 20th- Multiple activities will be pushed out to all students on field day and students will choose a set number of activities to complete based on their interest! Academic assignments will not be pushed out on this day. Each class will end the day with a Zoom Class Meeting, where they will also participate in something fun with their class! Once again, students will be able to participate in these activities based on what they already have in their homes!!
  • All School Staff Parade – Friday, May 22ndOn the last day of school, our school staff will be driving through the Grove neighborhoods in order to wave goodbye to our students for the year. A specific route and general time frame for the parade will be shared with families ahead of time, in order for families to be on the look-out for our teachers!!! Social distancing guidelines will be followed for this activity!!

End of the Year Materials Drop-Off and Pick-Up
Due to the change in the end of the school year for students, we have adjusted our dates for materials pick-up and drop-off. We will now be holding this May 18th – May 21st. Please be sure to follow the guidelines listed below for the pick-up and drop-off and be sure to only come during your designated time frame. If your designated time for your family will not work, please contact the main office staff to arrange for an alternative time.

Guidelines for Picking-Up and Dropping-Off Materials

Barrington 220 Summer School to be Held Virtually
The coronavirus pandemic has unfortunately canceled many upcoming plans. In Barrington 220 all summer athletic camps and activities are canceled. However, in an effort to continue providing learning opportunities for our students, summer school courses will be offered virtually for the summer of 2020. We encourage students to take advantage of these opportunities to continue learning over the summer, especially given the unique conclusion to this school year.
All online summer school programs will still be held as scheduled Monday-Thursday over the following dates:

Please note, due to the shift to online summer school, some previously offered courses are no longer available. All students who previously enrolled in courses that are no longer being offered in the virtual format will receive full refunds within 30 days, to the credit card that was used during registration. If you’re interested in a course that is still being offered, you must register for it. You can not use the money from a canceled course as a credit toward registration of a new course.
