Valentine’s Day Party Volunteers Needed!!

We are excited that once again, our PTO will be holding our Valentine’s Day Parties for students in classrooms on Monday, February 14th from 1:45-2:30 p.m.  PTO is currently looking for three parent volunteers per class to coordinate and run the parties. We kindly ask that if you have already volunteered at a Halloween or Winter party, you allow other parents to sign up for that classroom's Valentine's Day party first. Please only sign up to volunteer in one classroom as there will not be an opportunity to volunteer in multiple classrooms at once. On Monday, January 24th, remaining volunteer opportunities will be open to all parents. Thank you for your understanding as we try to allow as many parents to participate this year as we are able.

The three room parents for each classroom will be the only parents permitted to enter the building for the parties, as we are still implementing mitigation strategies due to COVID. Each volunteer will need to show proof of vaccination, or provide a negative COVID-19 test to participate as mandated by Gov. Pritzker and outlined by District #220 (English and Spanish).  Parties will have some restrictions and specific details will be shared with volunteers as soon as possible!

The PTO and Grove staff thank you in advance for volunteering to plan and host your child's classroom party! Thank you so much for volunteering to make this special for our kids!

5 Essentials Survey

Please click on the links below to a letter regarding an important survey for the parents of Grove Avenue School. The results of this survey will be included as a portion of our official School Report Card and school ranking next fall. As a result, your participation and input is important, as we need at least 20% of our parent population to participate. Students in grades four and five, as well as, the Grove Avenue Staff will be participating in the survey.

The survey will be open until the beginning of April, but please take a few minutes to complete the survey as soon as possible. It takes approximately 10 minutes to complete.

Due to the fact that our district office is located in Lake County, parents will need to choose Lake County at the login page in order to then access the Grove link. Links to the survey site are included in the letter! Please feel free to contact Mrs. Matthews directly with any questions regarding the survey.

3rd-5th Grade Winter Virtual Musical

The Grove 3rd-5th graders have worked hard to record a musical program for our Grove families!  Mrs. Boyer will be sending out a virtual program for the event via IC on Wednesday, January 26th.  The program will have a link to the musical recording, as well as some poems read by our Grove 5th graders. We hope families will make this a fun and celebratory event for our students! Perhaps popping some popcorn and making some hot cocoa to enjoy as you watch the program together as a family will be fun!!  I have included a link to directions for how to connect either an iPad or computer to your TV if you wish to view the program on a larger screen!! You of course can also gather the family around a device, but it might be beneficial to comfortably watch the event on your TV screen!!  We hope that this program of light and positivity brings joy to your family this winter season!
