We had a very exciting past week at Grove! Thank you to our PTO for planning and coordinating our field day for our students! Our students truly enjoyed spending time outside playing and having fun with their classmates. This could not have been accomplished without the time and support of our parent volunteers!!! As a result, we send a sincere thank you to everyone who helped make this day possible!!!  

Summer Study

We are not requiring our typical summer study work for students to do at home this summer, as we feel strongly that after the past year, our students need to get outside, be active, and enjoy the summer with family and being kids. With that being said, the number one thing that every student needs to do to prepare for next school year is READ every day!! I will include information about the Summer Reading Program through the Barrington Area Library, which begins June 1st in next week’s Grizzly. This will be a great resource for summer reading. I will also include several other recommendations for families for various activities that students can do over the next few months if they so choose. Our Barrington Summer School programs are also great options for keeping students engaged in academic activities over the summer. 

End of the Year Spirit Days 

We have multiple special days coming up to end the year, so we have decided to celebrate and highlight the day with some fun spirit days. Below is a list of the activities/days that we still have remaining this week: 

Monday, May 24th - Senior Walks 

• Send Off the Senior Grove Graduates by wearing your favorite college/university gear: t-shirts, hats, or favorite college colors! 

Tuesday, May 25th

• Wear Tie Dye or Multi-Colored Clothes

Friday, May 28th 

• Grove Gear Ends the Year!! Wear your favorite Grove shirt or spirit wear!! 

2021-2022 Supplies 

Once again, we will be providing all supplies for students for the 2021-2022 school year through Grove. As a result, families will pay a supply fee in July through Infinite Campus. The fee for half-day kindergarten will be $25.00 and the fee for all day kindergarten through 5th grade will be $45.00. 

The only supplies that families will need to purchase outside of the fees paid from registration will be a backpack, lunch bag, water bottle, and gym shoes. 

Registration for the 2021-2022 School Year

Online Registration for the 2021-22 school year is open. All families planning to attend Barrington 220 schools in August will need to register and update student and family demographic information by May 28th. Students can not be officially registered for the 2021-22 school year until registration is completed. Click on the link for information shared with parents with directions to complete registration in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.

Attention Families!! Important - Material Return Requested!!

During this school year, we have sent many materials home with our students to support distance learning, including books, science materials, and math manipulatives/materials (i.e. blocks, place value chips, etc). In May, we will be taking inventory of our classroom materials to determine what we need for the 2021-2022 school year. To help us be fiscally responsible in this process, please help your child gather and return all classroom materials to your classroom teacher when they are no longer used. Thank you for your partnership!

Meals for Hope Food Drive BSEO Food Drive 

The Barrington Schools Employee Organization (BSEO), which is our district support staff members, are sponsoring a food drive for the Barrington Food Pantry. The drive will run from Monday, May 10th  through Wednesday, May 26th. Donations for the drive can be dropped off at Grove Avenue School where a collection box will be located. 

Items needed but not limited to include: 

Dried Beans, Corn Flakes, Rice Cereals, White Rice, Brown Rice, Dried Fruits, Nuts, Salad Dressing, Ketchup, Yellow Mustard, Travel Size Sunscreen, Small quantity box of Garbage Bags, Travel size Shaving Cream for men, Gluten Free Items.
