Grove School Store is Reopened!!

Our students who completed their summer study work and earned coupons for the school store redeemed their coupons on Friday! As a result, we are now prepared to open our school store for our typical weekly sale on Fridays. Students can purchase items from the school store during lunch hours each Friday. Items typically sell from 50 cents to 3 dollars. There are usually school-related items such as fun pencils, pens, highlighters, and other small novelty items!

Barrington Early Learning Center (ELC) Screening Appointments

The Barrington Early Learning Center is a free early childhood education program that serves at-risk preschool students ages 3 to 5 years old in the Barrington 220 School District. The ELC qualifies prospective students through screenings offered throughout the school year in the areas of pre-academic skills, gross and fine motor skills, vision and hearing, social skills, and speech/language. Students are placed according to their individual needs. If you are interested in signing up your child for the January 13th or March 10th screening, please review the following website.  https://elc.barrington220.org/families/screening-forms

BHS Winter Wonderfest 2022

Barrington High School is excited to continue the tradition of Winterfest this year, and they are including more performances and hands-on activities led by students and staff from across the district.  WinterFest 2022 will include courtyard light shows, school & club trees, games, cookie decorating, and so much more! This year the event is running Friday, December 9th & Saturday, December 10th. Grove will have a decorated tree at the event and our orchestra and choir students will be performing on Friday with Orchestra performing at 6:15 p.m. and choir performing at 7:15 p.m. Tickets for the event can be purchased online through the District Fine Arts Box Office

Report Cards for the First Marking Period

Our first marking period was over last week. As a result, our teachers are currently working on report cards and the reports will be released to parents electronically via the Infinite Campus (IC) Parent Portal at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22nd. Report cards are NOT printed in paper form, as we went GREEN several years ago, so parents must access the reports via IC.

Attendance the Week of Thanksgiving

School is in session for two days during the week of Thanksgiving. It is important that students are in attendance on Monday, November 21st and Tuesday, November 22nd!

Barrington Giving Days

Barrington Giving Day is a Non-Profit organization that invites families in the 220 School District to a Giving Day event where they receive food, warm coats, hats/gloves, blankets, books, toys, and other much-needed items. Over 900 families in our community are in need of help. There are collection boxes in the main entrance of Grove where new or gently used/like new games or puzzles may be dropped off from now until December 7th. Our PTO will be sponsoring a special classroom lunch celebration for the class that donates the largest number of items.

Cold and Flu Season

Although we are just turning the corner to the weather of winter, we already have students experiencing the cold and flu season.  In order to minimize the spread of these illnesses, we all have to do our part in helping to keep our community healthy. We of course want students in school as much as possible and are not advocating for students to stay home with minor coughs or sneezes, but we do want to make sure that we are not exposing others to students who are contagious as well. Influenza seems to already be spreading, so please be on the lookout for its signs and symptoms. Influenza (flu) causes fever or feeling feverish/chills, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle or body aches, headaches, fatigue (tiredness), vomiting, and diarrhea. The flu is a contagious respiratory illness with two main types (Types A and B), caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and lungs. Anyone who has influenza (flu) should stay home until fever-free for 24 hours. If you have questions about symptoms your child is experiencing or are not sure whether or not to keep your child home, please reach out to Nurse Brierton and she will be happy to talk with you. We also always recommend contacting your primary care provider/ pediatrician. If your child is diagnosed with influenza, please be sure to contact Nurse Brierton to report it. Thank you for your cooperation and support in taking care of our entire school community!!
